IDEAS IN THE SHELF
Tino Cobianchi
collecting forty articles published in the monthly missionary Peoples, Silvano Fausti now makes them available to a wider audience in the book Mission: way of being Church. The common thread linking the various interventions is the commentary tracks by Luke (Gospel and Acts) on the mission. After making it clear how often the word mission "only evokes distant lands and poor people" and "suggests that recipients are others and are elsewhere," the author points out that instead it is the "dimension of our lives" and should be the duty of all Christians because "everyone has the same vocation and mission of Jesus: the vocation to be a child, which is realized in the mission to be his brother. " In his meditations Fausti father approaches the topic with recognized skills and expertise, from different points of view. The first ten provide an overview of issues touching on the mission as the end, the means, the models ("Mary is the model of all evangelization and of the whole Church") and indicating the cross "the accomplishment of the mission." The next ten reflections try to trace the style of the mission. For example talking about the combination mission / cross the author points out that "everyone has a cross that is his and no other: it is his selfishness, which prevents to realize themselves in love. " Over the next ten Jesuit written comments, with the "magnifying glass" of lectio divina, the entire text of Luke on the mission of the seventy disciples (Luke 10, 1-24): "inexhaustible goldmine of ideas and stimuli ". Among the many beautiful and include considerations of Faust on the workers for the harvest, and in it the author states that "to become his workers have to be dug out by selfishness, thrown out of our desires to have, and can appear". Finally, the Jesuit answering readers' questions on topics such as exposure of the crucifix, the well-being, the relationship with the alien and the other, abuse sex and celibacy, poverty, obedience and prayer, was inspired to explain and investigate the meaning and significance of the mission. Each reflection is followed by some questions ("Announce that I live, or discredit what life with my ad?" "My mission is to witness or propaganda?") To reflect and share and an indication of Biblical passages to deepen and pray. In ministry it started the popular mission in our diocese, the book may be a useful way of catechesis on the mission and the reflections of Faust can help reflect the light of God's Word, how to live and witness our faith.
