OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY IN THE BASILICA OF SAN MICHELE MAGGIORE IN PAVIA
There are seeds that remain dormant in soil for years, until suddenly - who knows why - and sprout created something beautiful and new.
So it was for us when we decided to restore the statue of the Madonna del Rosario, who was quiet in its niche above the altar of the right transept, like a person: a family well known and loved, certainly, but perhaps also a little 'taken for granted. The restoration has led to a rediscovery.
of her beauty, first of all: removed the patina of dust, you will be amazed the splendor of the garment and the purity of the face of Mary.
But then came the curiosity to know who, when, with what spirit has carved forms, he painted and gilded, where she was kept and where he prayed in his presence, which has walked the streets of our city surrounded by affection and veneration of the faithful.
And one more thing is born from that seed stalks of cooperation and friendship between people, united by the interest and admiration for this beautiful sign of faith that is the statue of Our Lady of the Rosary, have helped to illuminate the
history from different angles:
-William Posla reconstructs the historical events that led to the statue where it now stands;
-Susanna Canterbury illustrates the artistic features;
-Silvia Mantica reports of careful restoration;

The book collects the work of the conference dedicated to the study Campori Cardinal Pietro (1554-1643). Originally from Garfagnana Este and initiated an ecclesiastical career, after an apprenticeship Campori at the main courts of Europe, followed the fate of Bishop. Species of which he was secretary.
